I’m going to tell you a secret, and you have to promise me you won’t tell my husband. Promise?

I like baseball. I’m not one of those people who can tell you everyone on a team’s roster or what the stats on the back of a baseball card mean or what the slugging percentage is for, I just enjoy watching the games. Can’t think of many better ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than at the ballpark. I’m sure this is going to give my son gender identity issues when Momma’s the one taking him to games.

This is a cool story about what happened to the baseball from Luis Gonzalez’s World Series winning hit back in 2001.

I’m a huge fan of Jerry Colangelo, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the series winning ball.

EDIT TO ADD: Thanks to an old friend, I know how the slugging percentage works now. Thanks Craig. :)

Hey, no problem with supporting one’s child. Just don’t go whacko as a baseball mother.

Also, nice story on the baseball. Gonzalez appears to be an individual with humility and respect for those who have helped him. That is a nice change from “superstar” athletes who act like they did it all themselves.

    Thanks.

That’s okay Farrah. I’ll still love you even if you do like baseball. I just get tired of the over paid prima donnas that play the games with God given talents. Guess I’m just jealous.

  3. Terry Says:

Uh, Phil. Some of those talents are developed.

As for being overpaid, as long as the free enterprise system will allow one to convince others that he is worth the money (in gate receipts) I have to say they have that right. Look at how much reverence is paid to all professional athletes by sports fans.
