Both Republicans and Democrats are corrupt. They’re human, and subject to the frailities of the human condition just like the rest of us - greed, vanity, pride etc. I think it’s disingenuous to say one is more ethical than the other.

The only difference I can see, is that Republicans are corrupt before the elections, and Democrats after.

if we elected Democrats, there wasn’t going to be a draft? I thought only Bushie wanted to draft the MTV crowd?

Um, no. Sorry. It never was.

Either that, or he wants you to believe his son is a child genius.

While everyone is focusing on Edwards’ trying to back away from the report his staff tried to get his family a PS3 from Wal-Mart on the same day he was rallying troops against the evil Wal-Mart, this little gem caught my attention:

Edwards, the Democrats’ vice-presidential candidate in 2004, spoke Wednesday to supporters of union-backed WakeUpWalMart.com on a conference call launching the group’s holiday season campaign to pressure Wal-Mart for better labor standards.

In the call, he repeated a story about his son Jack disapproving of a classmate buying sneakers at Wal-Mart. “If a 6-year-old can figure it out, America can definitely figure this out,” Edwards said.

This kid is amazing! At the tender age of 6, he can understand the economics of market value and supply and demand and the complexities of fair compensation. He’s the next Stephen Hawking!

Or, what’s more likely to have happened - the little kid turned his nose up at his classmate when he heard the sneakers were from Wal-Mart because it’s Wal-Mart and not Neiman Marcus.

Of course… Edwards could also be implying Americans are about as smart as a 6 year-old and I could have a completely wrong angle on this.

Milton Friedman died the same day Nancy Pelosi was formally elected Speaker of The House.

I’m a big believer in Fate and Destiny. I think those ladies are trying to tell us something.

Tom Delay is a blogger now?

This makes me feel the same as I did when I saw my 86yr old neigbhor wearing his iPod. It’s just so not cool anymore.

And the left wants to steal it. They might as well just rip it off my arm and run down the street with it. Ok, maybe not that dramtic, but lefties want to keep my from indulging in my handbag fetish.

Clinton’s former Treasury Secretary, you know - the one who called the Bush Administration and asked them to bail out Enron, thinks you should give the Feds more of your pay check.

“You cannot solve the nation’s fiscal problems without increased revenues,” declared Mr. Rubin, the Democratic Party’s leading economic spokesman, in a speech last Thursday. He also took a crack at economic forecasting by noting that “I think if you were to increase taxes right now, you would have probably about zero negative effect on the economy.” The economics and politics here are worth parsing.

A zero negative effect on the economy? Really. Huh.

Well let’s see. The Husband and I are both professionals with good jobs. We work hard and deserve every penny of our pay checks. We’re probably in the crosshairs of lefties because that’s not the sense of entitlement they celebrate. Anyway, first order of business as the Prom Queen Nancy Pelosi has stated would be to mess with the Bush tax cuts. Based on how much the evil Bush tax cuts saved us in 2005, I’m thinking The Husband and I will be out at least $1,500. If Rubin and the Prom Queen get their way, I should stress.

What did I do with the extra $1,500 this year? Something responsible and fiscally prudent maybe? I could’ve saved it for a rainy day or added a little to The Son’s college fund or my IRA. But I didn’t. Nope. This little wifey bought herself multiple absurdly expensive handbags like this one and is planning on buying yet another when she finishes her year end tax planning and knows how much the evil tax cuts saved her. You may make fun at your leisure in the comments below, but I have a point here, I promise.

I took that cash and turned around and splurged. Pumped all of that $1,500 and more right back into the Phoenix economy. This ‘zero negative effect on the economy’ Rubin was talking about…when my $1,500 is going to the Feds instead of the perky salesgirl at Coach, is he assuming that someone else, say someone who isn’t in a high of tax bracket as I, will purchase the same amount of ridiculously expensive purses as I do to make up for it? I wonder how that’s going to happen. Government subsidies for accessory purchases? I’m sure I make too much money to be eligible for that program.

I’d rather have Bushie and his tax cuts buy me a handbag any day.

When I go out of town (which seems to be all the time these days), I make sure the fridge is stocked with all of The Husband’s favorite foods. His favorite beer, the frozen pizzas he loves, sandwhich fixin’s. A way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, right? I’m not much of a cook, but I try.

When he goes out of town, he makes sure I have one chocolate chip muffin, milk and six Pringles. Oh and cheese, there’s plenty of cheese.

Sorry, he’s not answering his cell phone and I had to bitch to someone. :)

I’m heading to California for a few days. Blogging will be heavier than usual because I’ll actually have time to blog.

Aren’t you lucky? :)

**UPDATE**

I spoke to soon. Blogging without a power cord for one’s laptop doesn’t last very long.

No, I’m not talking about John Kerry’s retirement from public life. I’m talking about the election results. This is wonderful news. Sure, the GOP lost both houses of Congress and Bushie appears to be rolling over so Nancy Pelosi can scratch his belly and he can shake his leg, but this is fabulous.

Why, you ask? Why thank you for asking, I’ll tell you.

Because it’s now time for the lefties to put up, or shut up. Nancy Pelosi has this grand plan for the first 100 hours of her reign of terror. It’s an ambitious agenda…

Day One: Put new rules in place to “break the link between lobbyists and legislation.”

Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. Cut the interest rate on student loans in half. Allow the government to negotiate directly with the pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare patients.

Broaden the types of stem cell research allowed with federal funds _ “I hope with a veto-proof majority,” she added in an Associated Press interview Thursday.

All the days after that: “Pay as you go,” meaning no increasing the deficit, whether the issue is middle class tax relief, health care or some other priority.

To do that, she said, Bush-era tax cuts would have to be rolled back for those above “a certain level.” She mentioned annual incomes of $250,000 or $300,000 a year and higher, and said tax rates for those individuals might revert to those of the Clinton era. Details will have to be worked out, she emphasized.

“We believe in the marketplace,” Pelosi said of Democrats, then drew a contrast with Republicans. “They have only rewarded wealth, not work.”

“We must share the benefits of our wealth” beyond the privileged few, she added.

One of these kids is doing his own thing, one of these kids just doesn’t belong. Anything standing out to you?

If the Democrats believe in the marketplace, why does Nancy want to mess with the minimum wage, strong arm drug companies and raise taxes by tinkering with the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003? I believe her when she says Democrats believe in the marketplace. They most certainly do. The marketplace the Democrats believe in is controlled by government. If she, and her socialist style policies are allowed to succeed, there’ll be no wealth for Nancy and her cabal to take from those according to their ability, and give to those according to their ‘need’. (Ayn Rand is my new idol, can you tell?)

Mike Pence was right when he said Republicans had lost their way and quit on the American people. They can find their way back by finding their spines and not rolling over like Bushie.

I’m a big believer of not dishing out what you can’t take. The Democrats have been dishing for the past six years. They’ve tried to block every tax cut, every pro-little guy policy, every pro-economic growth policy introduced into either house of Congress. Now it’s our turn. It’s time for the minority party (that’s us now you know), to sit back and make it as difficult as possible for her. Let the games begin.

Doesn’t this just sound like a blast? See, this is GREAT news!

I’m not sure I have the words to describe how amazing today was. It was a very long day of sitting around waiting, and then twenty minutes of pure adrenaline. I never imagined sky diving could be as incredible as it was.
