I’ve been running without my iPod, or any sort of musical inspiration of any kind. I’m wondering if I should? I have a Shuffle and that would be convenient. But I really like the Nike+ functionality, and knowing there are mods out there for non-Nike+ shoes, I’d really like to get it.

On the other hand….I’m trying to train like I race, and I don’t know if iPods are allowed on the course. I’d hate to invest all that money and not be able to use it.

Thoughts?

You might want to check the course rules first. To the best of my knowledge they’re not allowed in the Chicago race. But every race is probably different.

I would definitely invest in the Nike +; you don’t even need the nike shoes, you can fit it on any shoe. For my first 1/2 I needed the “coach” in my ear. Who doesn’t want to hear, “THIS IS LANCE ARMSTRONG, THAT WAS YOUR FARTHEST RUN YET! Good luck with the training. I’m right there with you in the Central Team. Our coach indicated that you could use them for the marathon.

I like running with music and know that many times people run with music even if it is not allowed in races. Not that it is a good thing that people do it. :-) I think if you are comfortable with or without then you are good.
